Default power unlock wont work

I'm having an issue with the power door lock switch in my 2000 civic sedan. I can lock all the doors with the switch but won't unlock. When I press to unlock it does nothing, not even a sound. The doors lock and unlock fine with both the factory keyless entry remote and aftermarket alarm remote. I tried putting a ground to the green/orange wire for the switch but it doesn't do anything. I checked all the fuses and they seem fine. Any ideas??

When I get home from work and have my ESM in front of me, I might have some ideas for you if no one beats me to it.

Ohm test the door switch.

Damn, I totally forgot to pull the FSM page, and now I'm back at work. I'll try to remember when I get home again.

Simple Ohm test of switch when toggled to "unlock" position.

Ron J always knows what he's doing on here. Definitely just check the wires. I suck with ohmeters because I rarely use one. Usually when something like what you desrcibe happens it's either the switch is bad or one of the wires that from the door to the body is kinked up from the door opening and closing. Could be other things but those two seem to happen a lot.

You test the switch that isn't working. The switch on the door jamb is completely unrelated. You do a resistant test (electrical resistance is measure in ohms) by touching the two prongs of a multimeter to the "in" and "out" pins of the switch while holding it in the direction that it isn't working.

Sorry never did an ohm test before and I just want to get his clear because I tried but im not getting any readings. Do I put for example the red prong in unlock and the black prong in the lock and see what I get? Also what will the readings tell me? Thanks.

Try and see if it works with the door open. If it does, the problen will the in the door wire harness main connector.

Do yourself a favor by downloading the service manual that is easily found with a Google search.
