d16y8 swap no fuel
Hey guys. I am working on getting a y8 swap going in my previously running y7 1998 civic. I'm working with an automatic engine and harness on my old manual transmission. The car will crank but I am getting no fuel at the fuel rail. I have tried both the automatic and manual y8 ecu and neither one is helping. I read online that a thermostat housing ground wire could be the cause
but I can't even find ground wire on my harness to connect.. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Was this harness previously working, or did you get it from someone else? There's ground wires there, you just have to look harder. The junk yard harness I used for my swap, the bolt ring for the ground had been cut off, and I had to cut and solder a new one on, but the wires are definitely there.

Then either your CEL isn't working, or you have a deeper issue. Pull the cluster, make sure the bulb is there, and make sure it isn't blown. Do you own a voltmeter? We're gonna have to dive into your main relay.
I do own a voltmeter.
Have you tried jumping the 2p connector under the passenger dashboard? It is near the bottom by the ECU.
If you jump this on an OBD2 car the CEL will just straight come on.
If you do this and it still doesn't work then its possible that the harness itself is bad.
Inspect the ECU Plugs to make sure there are no damaged wires.
Once you turn the car to On II use your Volt Ohms meter to check the power to the MAP sensor & TPS, both of these should have power (IIRC 5V) even when the car is not running but the Ignition is on ON II.

Question can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key to the on position (key on engine off)
Also make sure when you connected the ECU by the passenger side you also connected the 2 GREEN connectors that are above or to the side of the ECU.
If the fuel pump is not working the CEL is not coming on it sounds like a ground issue. Make sure you have all the main grounds on valve cover, Thermo housing, Throttle body, Trans ect
