question on engine swap wire harness
Never swapped a d for a b and I have a question or two. My stock harness is a d16y8 auto harness, and I plan to swap the engine for a b18b. Well, thats all fine and dandy but I'm not sure what to do with the harness... can it be modified for the b? What has to be modified? Or should I find a D16y8 harness for a 5-speed and modify that for the B? I'm still confused on what I would need to modify though. I hope some one can shed some light on this for me.
Thank you
fyi, I have swapped engines before, but mostly just stock for stock. So I know some of what is required. I have a basic idea.

Re: question on engine swap wire harness
Yes you can modify the harness. You will need to extend some connectors here and there and convert the IACV from 3 wire to 2 wire.
If it's a JDM engine that comes with a cut harness swap out the plastic piece that goes around the injector clips for the one on the B-series harness. If that isn't available remove the plastic from the Y8 harness and discard it. Connect the injector clips and work down from there, if something isn't long enough to reach remove the loom a ways back from the plug, cut the wires and lengthen. Solder and use shrink tubing on your connections.
What year Civic?

Re: question on engine swap wire harness
if what I'm reading is correct, if I use a manual transmission d16y8 harness I won't have to convert the iacv? What do I do about the vtec wiring when going with a b18b? Just leave the plug hang?
