Default Confused... b18a or b16a??

OK.. here's the deal, i have both engines complete, a b18a and a jdm b16a and i have a Y1 tranny... since i dont have the money to fully build my future lsvtec im gonna wait on that project for about a year or less.. as for now they are just sitting in my garage, i have decided to put one of them in my 89 DX (currently with a ZC) but i am not sure which one drop in, should i get the torque of the b18a or the vtec with the b16a?? any suggestions??? oh yeah, i'll be running a pw0 b16a or the pr4 with the b18a, and of course 60 shot nitrous... hehe

B18A, since it's bolt in part will be the part staying in the car when you put on the VTEC head.

B16a, it's the better motor, period. We all know how things go with 'I plan to do this' etc etc........ besides LSVTEC blows for long-term reliability if it's not done right. Why take the chance?

Sell the LS setup, buy a GSR block, sell the B16 block, pick up some cams and an intake manifold...... poor mans B18c5

Well, that is why i am taking so long with the lsvtec, because im gonna try to get it done the right way.... and i have been thinking about getttin a b18c block and just do it that way... but honestly i want the lsvtec and for now im just going to run either the b16a or b18a, so far im leaning towards the b16a..... thanks

put the b16a in and get it running and driving. in the mean time, build the hell out of the ls block-make it bulletproof- ie: z-10 crank girdle, forged pistons, shotpeened rods, new bearings, type r oil pump. then, your ready to slap the head on and rip. I am not a big fan of doing ls/vtec with the motor in the car-too dirty-. use gsr cams for the best bang for the buck, ctr/itr too expensive.
