everyone says the car is too heavy but the si weighs 2,612 pounds and the da weighs a lil more than that

What's wrong with B16a in a da? Da was the first chasis to recieve the Dohc Vtec B16a from Honda in Japan back in 1989.

I have a B16A in my 91 RS hatch, and it feels fast to me. I bought the car already swapped so I have nothing to compare it to. Its stock other than I/H/E (Injen/DC Sports/HKS), flywheel (8.5lb fidanza) and clutch (exedy not sure what "stage") and some type of chip to the P72 ecu (I have it written down somewhere lol), its set up with VTEC engagement at 4500 RPM, and you actually feel it.

Heres my thing about the whole "its too heavy for the chassis, etc." because so many people say that (swap a GSR, do LS/VTEC, etc). I guess they have sort of a point, but that fact doesn't seem noticeable in my setup. It moves. The DA handles like a go-cart and thats probably one of my favorate characteristics of this chassis. Ok, that isn't important for drag/straight line racing but for spirited driving it is, and it's a great benifit. So before you dump the DA and search for a swapped hatch (or a shell), check out g2ic.com and see what they have to say...we love our DA's!!

ummmm you could have a fast B16 in there but why downgrate? get a B16 head and tanny than rebuild your B18 block. You could even pick up some P73 pistons.get a nice clutch and a header and your good to go.

I don't remember for sure it might have been 1990, but wasn't the 1988 CRX/Civic SiR the first with the DOHC VTEC B16?

i have a b18a1 motor w/ a b16a1 head. it kicks hard.

as for vtech engagement at 4500 rpm, that might not be a good idea. if vtech is engaged at any lower then 5000 rpm, you lose alot of low end torgue and hp.

my dream car is a da w a poormans r or a k20a so wuld just say do that. or you could just add the b16 trans w a clutch n flywheel to ur b18, my friend had this set up and he hustled a lot of ppl wit b16 powerd da's and ej's. but if you like the b16 go for it. another homie had a ej8 w a b16 n i loved, i was always trying to get him drunk so i could be the designated driver lol.

B16's are **** slow in integra they are just as fast as the ls motor the only thing that makes people think b16's are fast is they have no torque but alot of hp... that means its not going to pull at all in the bottom end and the actualy start to pull in the top end and make it feel so fast!!! I laugh at b16 integras running 16's at the track all day long.

It's a downgrade.

Some idiot in my area has been trying to sell his "ultra rare" 93 GSR. Thing is that he swapped in a B16. Moron.

Save your money. Specially save your money if you are planning to use your LS tranny. Had a b16 in my DA many years ago, took it out in 3 weeks, went LS-Vtec and never looked back. The only reason why people keep saying that it pulls...is because of the vtec illusion when it kicks in.

I ran a 14.1 with my b16a equipped DA. CTR cams, thin HG, Spark header, MSD digi 6 box, cap, coil and wires, crome tuned and the classic PVC SRI. Ran on RA1s on a 75 ish degree day. But the thing still had no torque, if you're broke go cr-vtec. or somethin bigger then a strokeless 1.6

edit: just so the rumor mills are stopped, that was with a 4.7 equipped YS1, cable trans gear ratios are partially what kills their et.s. And it had a 'spartan' interior to put it kindly

I have a 92 gsr with a JDM B16 (170hp Version). Its a REALLY fun car to drive and great for around town, the highway, and just a great daily driver.

BUT, I am bored of it. I want something different. Something with a little more power.

Honestly, if you are on a budget, go B20 with a YS1 short geared tranny.

But I would either build an LS/VTEC or B20/VTEC.

I'm putting 161whp and I would like 200whp and I would be happy.

But overall, I am VERY happy with the B16. It's been very reliable, quick, fast and FUN!!!!

as long as its fun for you, thats all that matters.

if you want something that is gonna pull you around and be fun on the street, put a B20 with a b16 tranny.

I put a B20 with GSR tranny in my friends 96 integra and i love driving his, its so much fun, lots of tq, and really nice around town from light to light.

You need to build your motor for those cams you cant just drop them in and think its going to give you 50hp. With the setup you just said, you will probably be in the high 15's.
