Rebuild engine wire harness.
The other day I pulled off the road just a little too fast and hit a bump a little harder than I would have liked and my engine light came on as well as started to idle fast. I checked the code and it said it was a temp sensor. I dig around down there and I noticed the wire going to the temp sensor had broken. It was a clean break.
Is this common?
Is this common?
for the wire breaking, not common but if it is my old CRX that i had back in the day, I tugged and TUGGED at that connector when i had to replace the sensor…..and tugged even more to get it disconnected, surprising it didn't break.
for you
Single wire, splice and seal and good.
for running off the road, that is not common either, unless someone is texting, then it is all too common and I hope they hit a bridge next time they text.

Just don't use wire nuts. Go to the automotive store, get heatshrink butt connectors and a pair of wiring pliers / crimpers. Just put the wire back together with that, and wrap in electrical tape.
yes it is common that 20+ year old wires will be brittle and break easily. i often pull good plugs from newer harnesses and have them around to solder in when the old ones go.
