Default Thinking about selling my baby

I may have to sell my ITR. I have pamperd her so well. Me and my wife have a new daughter, and my wife wants me to stay home with her. We tried daycare and on the first day she got hurt. Me and my wife make about the same money but her benifts are a lot better. So now I have to choose between my daughter and my ITR. I guess it is only a car if something was to happen to my daughter I could never forgive myself. I had every intention on keeping my ITR forever. I change the oil at 3 months even though I don't put that many miles on it. I adjusted the valves at 10,000 miles and changed the MTF at like 9,000. Damn I really wanted to keep the car. I know that it will be worth more than what I paid for it one day. What would be a fare asking price? I am thinking 23,000 I put about 2 grand of mods on it and still have all the oem parts. I have 17,000 miles on it and a new set of tires I just replaced at 16000. I am sure that I will sell it to as soon as I put it out for sale. I have the only one around here for about 100miles. What to do? And now I have to change professions I just completed four years of school last year and got a state masters license. This sucks.

dude, if i were in your shoes, i'd say **** the ITR. family is SOOOOOOOOOOOO much more important and valuable, and spending time with your daughter is crucial as well.

Thanks for the support. It is funny how life can throw you curve ball sometimes. when I found my ITR I was home for Christmass vacation and happend to drive by the acura dealer and saw the car out of the corner of my eye and made my wife turn around. They had just pulled it off the truck that day and it only had 8 tenths of a mile on it. I took it for a ride and I had to have it. I was driving 2000 si and my wife had an altima and she wanted something more sporty. luckly we had taken the altima home with us. It was like fate. We had tried to have children and were not able to so we were both going to have sports cars now then 2 years later blam. I didn't see it coming. I wonder if my daughter will ever understand what I will have giving up for her. I didn't realize what a lot of mothers give up untill now. This is a real reality check.

Family > Car

Sell the R, keep your family happy, safe and together.

Your a good man. Very few people make the right decision and because you did and will spend time with your daughter she will have a better relationship in the longer run. I think you have it wrong though when you say "I wonder if my daughter will ever understand what I will have giving up for her". The moments that you will spend with your daughter because you gave up your car will be priceless. You will be there for her through everything, through her steps and words to when she makes you proud and when she makes you smile.
Hats off to ya!

Good luck!

Thanks I never really thought about it like that. I feal better now. Still scarred though today was my first day alone with her. My job was easier than havin to stay home with my daughter. You really don't have much time to do anything, but tend to them.

Not being a father I cannot know if these statements are true. But from what i hear, they say that is when the time flies and youll hardly believe when theve grown up.

Is the car paid off? Is storing your ITR and sucking it up in other ways viable? I totally agree with prioritizing family over what is just a luxury item - BUT, I was kicking myself for about 4 years after selling my '93 MR2 because I could have sacrificed other expenses.

ie. no vacations, no big TV, don't eat out, etc... at least until you get on your feet again.

Unfortunately its hard to limit the impact of such cutbacks to only yourself if you have a family. The dude I bought my R from had just got married and bought a house = cannot afford payments on his new ITR = lucky me. My gf is moving here from Japan in the spring, so I'm paying it off ASAP to prevent any repeat performances.

what is a 'state masters license'?

I am not going to try and sell it over the board it would probably attract thieves and be a pain. I don't think that I will have a problem selling it locally. I have a lot of people that have told me they wanted it if I were to get rid of it. Now wether or not they have the money that will be a different story. but my mods are a apex n1 cat back. dc sports 4-1 stainless, AEM cold air, Magnacore wires and denso irridium plugs, I also have a set of eibach springs that I had on there for about 3000 miles and took them off. It has never had an accedent I did have to replace the chin spoiler because some dick stole it. but it was factory paint matched.

I am a master electrician. I had to take a state test that was really quite tough. I was studding pre-Med and I don't think I ever had a final that tough. I don't have the car paid off. If I get a part time job on the weekend I might be able to keep but then when would I have time to spend with my wife. I doubt that I would get a part time job making the money I make now. And to top it off I just got a raise about two weeks ago. I called in this morning I have to tell them tomorrow. I know that there are going to sh*t when I tell them. I am over a big project wright now. We are updating this 124 year old church. I mean complete electrical modernization.

Your family is so much more important than material things. You are making the right decision.

Put it back to stock, sell your aftermarket parts and then sell the car. I think you would get more for your money that way.

You could always get another ITR

Unfortunately when starting a new family you have to make sacrifices. As much as you seem to love your car, and i know the feeling... this is your daughter you're talking about. A car is a CAR. Whether a ITR or ferrari, it cant be put on the same level as your new child. Cars can always be replaced, family cannot. Im sure you will make the right decision.

Hey don't listen to some of these people are the board. I think what you are doing is really deep and shows you are maturing. If you are sincerely thinking about selling, please PM me. Family is always most important.
