The Odometer
Sup everyone..I was sitting here bored and thinking to myself about putting miles on the R. I do use it as a daily driver(mainly in my town) but what are the side effects if we have alot of miles on the R??? Will the value go down or does it even matter??? I have only 9k but what are some of your guys/girls opinions??? I hope this is not a dumb topic starter, Im just new to this ITR Forum so please go easy on me
Well, too little miles will get you a better price but only to a certain extent. I think as long as you drive it normally (12k/year) then the value of your car will be stable.
Refer to sig....do you think I've done too many miles??
But as Reid already said -
I don't plan on selling my ITR (even when I get another car); as I am going to keep it as my future 'track' only car....so my massive amount of miles matters not one bit.

But as Reid already said -
Mileage only matters when you want to sell the vehicle.
I turned 77,000 miles & she runs like a champ....look at it this way - are you planning on selling it in the next 4-5 years??? If not, then screw mileage & enjoy what you pay for....
Besides, you'll get ~30mpg on the street - that's damn near economy compared to alot of cars!!

Highway miles vs. City miles..
a lot of city miles is no good..means stop and go traffic = more wear and tear
Highway miles are better...ess wear on brakes, clutch etc...

Not for an R owner though, I am sure most of us downshift to pass cars all
the time. Highway is as bad as local.
I don't have any oportunity to go into
red line in the city. second gear redline = ~100km or ~60mile, that means I
can only do this on a highway.

Kinda OT: I don't know how old you are, but it really helps to save up for a beater if you have an R. I'm sure majority of the R owners can chime on this.
Cosworth, I already have a beater but the problem is I dont know who can fix a 83 civic whose timing is way off!!
However, I dont even think helms books dates that far back so Im gonna have to figure something out! Thanks for all replies

Well, I think it all depends on the purpose of your ITR. My ITR is my *fun* car. The car I like to drive on the weekend for a cruise. The car I want to race NON-competitively (ie not door-to-door). My hybrid handles the daily driver duties quite well I must say. Anyway, I only have 9962 miles on my '00 ITR, but those miles include: buying the car in Greensboro, NC and driving it back to Nebraska; countless road trips to Topeka (road course) and KC; 2 years of AutoX as well. I've had a great time although I've kept low mileage.
Another reason I keep the mileage low is because of our Midwestern winters. They tend to SUCK very bad usually.

Just go into pimp mode and drive if you want to drive. If not, then sit there and look at your car look back at you and say, "DRIVE ME" I just tipped over 23K in 8 months, so I'm not doing too well on mileage, but I don't care!!
