Long story short; I sprayed my cylinder head with heavy duty degreaser and looks like it fudged up my head(refer to photos below)...
Have any of you guys experienced a similar thing? Is it still "saveable"?
uggh
ewww
see all that white crap, cant be wiped it off... I have to pick up my pistons and rods this week so I'll also be getting advice from machine shop as well.
Heavy duty degreaser AKA muratic acid?
Seen this before. For a normal build and a must save budget it is OK to use them just clean them very well on the machined surfaces with red scotchbrite pads. The entire machined surface is not altered but still usable. There are better cleaners suitable for aluminum and I bet you look into them for your next clean up.
hey Tyler thanks for the input. I was using using kerosene prior to the degreaser, I should've just got another bottle of kero. I might just end up getting another head
Very simple solution and doesn't change machined surfaces.
You still should run some red scotchbrite pads across the cam jouranals to get the surface extra smooth I think. Get the head resurfaced by a competent machine shop that can get the right finish too.
