Default 1999 Accord Manual Tranmission 125K

Son drove out of the yard, said something made a noise, then the car would not move in any gear, appears to be shifting OK, can move shift lever through the gears without using the clutch, sounds like something is turning inside the transmission, don't think it is a clutch related problem, no grinding when trying to put it in gear. shift fork(s) perhaps? I have repaired my cars since the 60's but know very little about transmissions. Finances are a factor Thanks

This appears to be a dead-end. Back to the drawing board.

If the speedometer still works, check that an axle has not broken.
Verify the clutch master/slave cylinder are functioning correctly.
Verify the shifter linkage bushings are not worn out.
Remove cover on tranmission(shifter linkage) and verify no roll pins or bolts have sheared off.

All good advice. Does it act like it's in neutral? I'm wondering if the shifter linkage is broken.

If it turns out to be the transmission, just check out scrap yards. I needed a transmission a few months ago and found that I could pick one up very cheap. I got one for my 96 at a junk yard for $150 with a 30 day warranty and they had it pulled and ready to go for me.

A junk yard transmission for a 96 is a very different thing than a junk yard transmission for a 99.

Not around here. They are still dirt cheap and super easy to find. I wouldn't hesitate to get a manual transmission from a junk yard for these. The automatics are a different story. They are pieces of junk and I probably wouldn't get one from a junk yard unless I was just getting it to put in and sell the car.

Could be one of the springs in the clutch disk popped out. I had that happen. Sounded like a pinball bouncing around when the car was running.

You won't know until you pull the Trans anyhow. I had a civic that popped 2 springs from the clutch after 190k. Car would go into gear with engine off, but not while running
