Hey Honda-tech!

I have this issue for a long time already. On cold start, idle is around 500-600rpm only which should be around 1.5k on cold start. Then on a short drive idle turns to 1.5k rpm on idle. What I do is shut off the engine and restart. Then idle goes back to 500-600rpm only.

What we did already is pull down IACV and Throttle Body then clean but nothing changed.

Note: Had an issue already before on the throttle body coolant passages. (coolant leak specifically) but we had it repaired already.

Thinking of getting a new tbody already.

Car is on Stock P2T ECU. Can anyone help?

We shouldn't have to make assumptions or guesses. Basic information (ya know, like what car you have) is required for a reason.

Maybe the fast thermo idle valve?

 

Thanks for the response. Haven't checked the FTIV yet. But I ordered a Type R throttle body instead.

 

Please, show us where the FITV is on a stock 99-00 SI. I dare you.

Hint: Honda did away with the FITV in '96.

OP, is your CEL on? Does it work? The Type R TB is not going to do anything for you - don't waste your time.

 

Got a Throttle body that has a new FITV.

CEL is not on nor flashing in some rpms.
