Swapped engine stuttering
So i blew my engine it was a d16y7 mini me swap so i swaped a y8 in it but now its stuttering. In idle it stutters and stays on for a few minutes then dies. Not sure what it could be. The distributor was on the other engine and would studder a bit but would still run. On a long or hard run it would die when i got off the gas or sometimes when stopping it would die. I thought it could be the engine since it had a bad piston. But i know the new engine is good so i know its not that. The distributor doesnt match any holes either. Any help?
Thanks!
Thanks!
The distributor "doesn't match any holes"? You mean the three bolt holes that attach it to the head don't match? So...the distributor isn't attached properly, but you're still driving the car?
Step 1: Stop being stupid, driving around with a distributor that isn't properly attached
Step 2: Get the correct distributor
Step 3: Set your ignition timing properly
We'll work from there.

Even if it's not it, you can't figure out what it is until you have the correct distributor.
I really do understand why the long time regulars become severely irritated over time. And I also understand why threads sink to the bottom with zero response. And why other times it just turns into a flame fest. Really, it is a no win situation for everyone involved.
Please either do a little research on how the distribution system works so as to know why the incorrect one will cause all kinds of havoc, or just take everyone's word and get the right one for the car and then start trouble shooting. Until you get the proper distributor in the car, diagnostic procedures are worthless and a complete waste of time and energy.
I hope you understand.
