In my D15B I put a B7 distributor TEMPORARILY to get it started and drive until I find a Z6 Distributor.The B7 distributor only the top hole meets a bracket but even then gap is too small to stick in a screw. During the 1st 2 minutes of me turning the key on the car it rides fine and normal. After about 2 minutes(ECU finds a wrong dizzy perhaps). My car then lower its idle to bout 300-500 RPMS and it sounds like a STI and bogs like a motherf*cker. I went to my advance auto parts because I thought it was my distributor timing since I had changed the distributor. But my friend told me if my cam timing was done long ago and never touch then the distributor timing can't be off.So is running a B7 distributor acting my car to sound like a STI and yet drive like crap?

Also during the first two minute u can WOT the car and acts fine after that its beings to backfire/misfire and bog ....

180 the fins? IF you mean the way distributor is sitting. ITs sitting in the proper angle.REMEMBER it's the wrong distributor on the motor and isn't gonna line up.....The Tach also kind bounces up through the RPMS after the bogging begins .

Check your MAP sensor, that may be faulty. When i did my swap, we had a bad MAP sensor, which caused the car to spit and backfire after a few minutes of starting it up, just as explained, like an STI.

The distributor is bad.

I had the same problem last week. Scared the **** out of me. Swapped dizzys and car runs great know.

the distributor timing can be off by several degrees even if it is the right one. also you won't be able to flip the "fins" that mate with the cam becaust honda build-in a failsafe by offsetting the fins so they can only go in one way.

i am going to put my money on your ignition timing being way off. the symptoms seem to fit. get the money together and go get the right distributor. if you can't fit all the bolts in when you put one on it's a good sign to not use the part.

but, if you really have to use this distributor... to get it as close as possible you need a timing light and a 12mm wrench.

I doubt its the map sensor. It came off a running hatchback only thing that got messed up during the swap is the dizzy.So Im gonna get a distributor tommorow afternoon and hopefully that will solve the problem.

Also if the engine was running fine and the only that messed up was the distributor if i put a new distributor is there some type of timing I have to do or it will still be set on correct timing?

Eh...Ok UPDATE:
I got a Z6 Distributor..car is running fine ALMOST it just has the bog in low RPMS but not quite as bad almost about to say its almost running perfect just slight bog. I have a extra map sensor laying around So im gonna swap and see if it clears the bog. Now that I put in the new distributor do I have to mess with it to have it at a stock time setting or w.e?

Yes, do that if you haven't already. You probably have it advanced too far, hence the low RPM sluggishness. IIRC, it is supposed to be 16 degrees BTDC. I wouldn't advance it any farther than 18 BTDC.

Ok Targa I appreciate the info yo just posted about the timing 16 degrees BTDC.How do i perform this.I dont know If this is how u do it but correct me if Im wrong. I get some sort of a timing light. Pullout spark plug out of Cylindr 1. Make the piston go all the way to TDC and then what do I do after this? Is this a DIY or requires proffesional help?. Really appreciate all ur help Targa and everyone else who has posted some input.
