The car is a 2013 honda accord EXL (smart key).

For the past few months, the drivers door lock has been getting stuck in its position and occasionally the drivers side rear door and front passenger door have also gotten stuck. With the drivers door lock always getting stuck, in order to fully lock and "arm" the car and/or unlock and "disarm" the car alarm, I would have to manually move the lock.

The main problem the past couple of weeks though has been that the accord won't start once the car is unlocked and the alarm is "disarmed". It would take dozens of attempts of locking/unlocking and trying to start the car.

We changed the smart key's battery so that isn't an issue. We have tried the key next to the "start/stop" button but it's as though the alarm isn't disarming when we unlock the doors.

We are out of warranty and the dealer is estimating a pretty sizable amount before even knowing what's really wrong with the car so I'm hoping someone has some idea or experience with this same issue.

 

How could you possibly be out of warranty?

 

We have close to 68k miles on the car the now. Powertrain warranty is 5/60k.
