Default Power steering pressure switch

2004 Odyssey

replacing high pressure line with the switch in it and noticed that the electrical connector to the PS switch was cut in two, right at the switch harness connector. No wire to splice to. Once the line is out, maybe I can see if the connector can be re-wired. Any ideas on fixing this?

What does this switch do anyway?

Suggestions on fixing it.

BTW this is a great video on pulling the line out.

Lots of lookers so far, no help yet.... That gave me some time to investigate. The connector is a part that must fail, cause I found it for sale.... $15 to $30 with wire splices. Pull-a-Part here I come.

Also found a YouTube video explaining the operation of the switch. At LOW pressure, driving at 2-3K rpm, the switch is grounded (0 volts) at high pressure it picks up the battery voltage (12 volts). At 12 volts (when turning the steering wheel and idling or not moving) the pump could drag down the engine idle. So the 12 volts tells the CPU to up the RPM so the van won't stall. A bit of over engineering, if you ask me.

My van does not stall, so maybe I am good without it.

Does that sound right?

The PSP is for just that....it works a bit different than your description but in the end it is an input to the PCM for adjusting the idle speed.

Yes a bone yard trip sounds like it is coming.....I'd also be willing to bet that almost any Honda will have the coorect size connector, so don't get too hung up on finding the same gen Ody.

WOW, that had to be the toughest job I have done on a car. Part of the problem may be the AutoZone version of the hose/line. It seems that the curves and bends are not exactly right. Plus the sensor bung does not end up pointed to a clear space.

Unlike the video, I had to thread my replacement line from the driver's side wheel well, I could not get the flared end to reach the connection when I started at the top. Plus I had to take the Sensor off in order to get the line all the way thru. Then re-attach it once I had the line threaded.

But I got it done and I don't currently see any leaks...

So I would recommend a HONDA PS OEM hose/line.

Glad you got it done......reminds me of doing a PS line on a 3rd gen Accord. Starts at the pump at the front of the drivers/left side, goes from the front of the engine to the pass/right side. Then down by/over the trans, at the rear of the trans/engine is turns back to the drivers side. Finally connects to the rack almost under the drivers feet. One big "C Shape" around and thru the engine bay

Good luck with the PSP connector.

Interesting that this is a thing. I was changing the CV boot on my 2014 odyssey yesterday

Cut PS pressure switch Odyssey 2014. no noticeable effects dont know how long
and noticed the same thing. cut wire 1/4 from the connector. Have no clue how long it was like that. Maybe squirrels!
Have not noticed anything driving... It is to increase idle when steering is on full lock, normally in parking situations.
Too much work to fix really but I will look up your parts!
