Good afternoon honda tech I got a problem with my 96 civic i replaced the transmission and the clutch on it put it back together and plunged in the reverse switch and the speed sensor to it I also added trans oil. The car started for about 20 min then it stalled out. Now the motor cranks but it doesn't turn on can someone tell me what is the problem

Is there a fuse that would not let you turn on the car but it will crank? If so can someone tell me where the fuse is located?

<p>There we go, thank you. &nbsp;Now, what makes you think it's a fuse? &nbsp;It could be multiple things. &nbsp;The engine needs 4 things to run. &nbsp;Compression, spark, air, and fuel. &nbsp;Let's check all four of those.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Spark - Buy/borrow/rent a DEI/HEI spark tester. &nbsp;Reconnect the distributor (but keep the ECU fuse out). &nbsp;Reinstall all four spark plugs and plug wires. &nbsp;Remove plug wire 1, insert the DEI/HEI tester, ground it by clipping it to a grounding point, and have a friend try to start the car. &nbsp;Write down what color the spark is (or if there is none). &nbsp;What did you get on each individual cylinder? &nbsp;If you see no spark, or weak spark (if it isn't white, or blueish white, it's weak), stop here.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Compression - buy/borrow/rent a compression tester, and use it. &nbsp;Since your engine isn't running, doing it properly (warmed up/WOT)&nbsp;isn't really an option, but you can at least do a cold test at WOT. &nbsp;Remove all four spark plugs, remove the ECU fuse (also called the FI fuse), unplug the distributor, insert the compression tester into cyl 1, put your foot down on the gas pedal, and try to start the car. &nbsp;It obviously won't, but let it do 4 or 5 turns. &nbsp;Write down the compression reading for that cylinder, then move onto cyl 2. &nbsp;Rinse and repeat until you have numbers for all four cylinders. &nbsp;Post those numbers. &nbsp;If the cylinders are below 100 PSI, or if any one cylinder is noticeably lower than the others, stop here.</p><p>Air - not much to test here. &nbsp;You haven't futzed with the throttle body or intake manifold at all, have you?</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Fuel - Use a voltmeter to see if you have battery voltage at each fuel injector. &nbsp;If you do, and if all other tests so far have passed, then buy/borrow/rent a Noid light, and verify that the injectors are pulsing correctly. &nbsp;Hopefully this is solved before you have to get this far, though.</p>

 

Plugs are getting spark I tested them. Injector are getting fuel. Ima do the compression test but the car was running before I replaced the tranny you think the motor lost psi

And I haven't messed with the throttle body or manifold

 

<p>Doubtful. &nbsp;Another reason I linked the rules to you - recent modifications are required information. &nbsp;Replacing the transmission is a recent modification. &nbsp;Did you remember to reattach the grounds? &nbsp;Specifically, the ground that attaches to the thermostat housing, as well as the ground that goes from the frame to the transmission? &nbsp;If you didn't reattach those grounds, that could also cause your problem. &nbsp;Double check them.</p>

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when u turn the key over but not try to start?

 

<p>Is the CEL on? &nbsp;Does it work? &nbsp;When you turn the key to ON(II), it should turn on for ~3 seconds, then turn back off. &nbsp;Safe bet you forgot to reattach one or more grounds when you reinstalled the transmission.</p>

Sounds like a good idea. Also check the mechanical timing.

 

No codes and grounds are there chassis to tranny and the one to the thermostat
