Default Throttle body

Thinking about putting a bigger throttle body than OEM on my teg. Skunk 2 or blox? I've heard skunk makes some crap but its cheaper for a 70mm than it is for a 68mm blox and I had to do a lot of digging to find that. Most of the blox are at least 250. So I just want opinions, people who know from experience. Thanks guys.

on a stock manifold? you're limited to 60mm. So do you have a stock manifold or skunk2 etc, you match the tb bore with the plenum opening or go smaller.

Yeah its a stock Mani. I wanna get a blox eventually that's pretty much itr. But how come they say they'll bolt up to stock if its limited to stock size?

think about it.... a 70mm step down to 60mm good luck getting that to seal... both those companies produce tons of junk blox is by far the worst it's basically a rip off of junk2 which isn't saying much. It was 1 or 2 skunk ex employees that started blox. what good is a 70mm tb going to do when you have a 60mm opening if you were able to get it to seal even get what ever manifold you wanted and use some 70mm or 64 is the smallest you can go from 70mm plenum opening. it says that on junk2's website.

The Blox throttle body will have no problem sealing up to an OEM manifold. As long as you're using a new gasket, there's no reason why it shouldn't.

The throttle body wont do much in terms of performance on an oem manifold though. You're probably better off getting an aftermarket manifold first. This is assuming you already have the basic bolt ons installed on your engine.

how TF is a 70mm going to bolt up to a stock manifold go look at the bolt locations 10mm is way too much, along with the fact the seal will be complete ****. I have a magnus K manifold here with a 90mm opening I wouldn't dare put a 80mm on it. THE BUTTERFLY PLATE WILL HIT THE edge of the plenum opening.

What size throttle did you use for your magnus then? And how much did it run?

a 90mm to match the 90mm plenum opening, it was a k-tuned one($425). however mine is a k-series, the fact off still stands 10mm is way to much of a step down. get what ever manifold you want and get what ever throttle body you want the skunk2 ones are "better" than anything blox makes. it's hard to mess up a throttle body the main issue is sticking if you get the billet one it's a lot better than the alpha series but cost about double.

Skunk2 throttle body's are fine! From personal experience they work just fine, iv never had a issue with mine, some will stick but can be fixed easily by adjusting the butterfly adjustment bolt. Iv used there 68mm 70mm and 74mm black series. iv even had luck on the eBay 68mm tb they look just like stock too. Just cause one or two guys had a bad experience with skunk2 don't believe the hype bro, there parts are on some of the fastest drag and track cars.

If you wanna use a bigger tb you need to port match the inlet of intake manifold like mentioned the step will result in a hp/performance decrease. Have a shop port match the inlet or do it your self with a some porting bits and air powered grinder, took me about two hours to remove my manifold port match it to my 70mm tb and clean and reinstalled. Use a thermal gasket and use that to scribe the bore and grind away. I cleaned up the runners while I was at it. Here's some pics of my pro series manifold I ported out for the bigger tb.

I was referring to blox throttle bodies generally being able to seal up to an oem manifold. Yes, 70mm TB will bolt on a stock manifold. Aside from the decrease in performance, it'll function like a throttle body should. While a stock TB has a 60mm bore, the manifold opening has a 64mm bore. The portion of the butterfly that enters the manifold inlet will clear the opening.

As far as bolt locations, a blox or skunk2 TB will mirror those of an OEM TB. Why would a 10mm increase in bore alter the location of the mounting holes?

And regarding the Magnus K: If you have a manifold with a 90mm inlet and decided to use a TB with an 80mm bore, how would THE BUTTERFLY PLATE HIT THE EDGE OF THE MANIFOLD INLET OPENING?

that's in regards to it sealing. Note the period.... I was getting my last point in i'm not trying to being my stupid manifold in here. Do you currently have a manifold and a tb with a 10mm difference? im sitting here with my magnus and seriously wondering how tf a 10mm difference is possible.

I cant even understand what you're trying to say...

No, I dont. What does it matter? What point are you trying to make here?
