Default 04 civic, strange sound after oil change

Hi everyone,

I just had my oil changed this morning with valvoline 5w20 synthetic. I live down the street from the shop and didnt get to drive it enough to notice at first but after taking it to put some air in the tires, I noticed its making a strange sound right around 2750rpms, like a grinding sound, video will be included, but other than my power steering belt and I believe he told me my alternator belt being slightly cracked, I was given no other red flags. thanks for any input

edit: forgot to add mileage, my car is at 112,320 and here is the link to the sound http://youtu.be/hsypmQyYXhE

again that link is http://youtu.be/hsypmQyYXhE and thanks again for any help yall can provide!!

Have you checked the condition of your ATF fluid?

Check the timing belt and the alternator (a bad bearing can cause that nose). Have one person push the accelerator and have the hood open. Inspect as that person revs the car.

Will do thanks. My confusion is mainly why would it be making this sound fresh off an oil change? I've never heard this grinding before, and if its an engine bearing wouldnt the fresh oil lube it up? I've read around and have learned the exhaust heat shield could be the problem, possibly a rock rattling around in it, but would that make this type of noise? >

From that video, it doesn't seem that the exhaust heat shield is the problem. My civic's heat shield did not make that sound (It made a rattling sound). As for why it happened after the oil change, I am not sure. lol. Check the oil dipstick and see if the oil level is correct. If so, then jack up the car and check if the oil filter was installed properly (Remove the engine splash guard).

Oil level is fine, it's too late for me to jack the car up right now but I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow to see what's going on... I'll let you know what I find out. Thanks for your help
