Default Gearbox wine

I noticed today that when i am coming to a stop at a light or stopsign and i push the clutch down and shift into first that there is a wining sound that continues even a few seconds after im at a dead stop, its off and on, sometimes it will do it and sometimes it wont. Do you have any idea what is could be?

I just changed the fluid a few weeks ago and none has been leaking so it should be good on fluid. Its not a loud wine, i mean if your were not paying attenion you wouldnt notice it.

I guess you could call it a wining/spinning sound.

i sounds to me
you need to change on of the belts either power steering or the alternator belt.
if the sound comes while A/C is on thats your compressor belt.
this sound comes in low rpm only...

when you activating the clutch what is happening?
the rpm will go all the way down
he said this sound comes while slow driving
so probably the rpm will be arround 2 to 1.5k or lower

Are you really that stupid?

Belts don't whine, bearings in pulleys do. Belts squeak, chirp and break.

There are two things that this sound could be.
1. The throw out bearing is beginning to go bad. The input shaft is not spinning when the clutch pedal is depressed so how could you hear that bearing?
2. Perfectly normal operation, slowing of the gears and synchronizer hubs in the trans.

its the synchros in the tranny speeding up the 1st gear. It probably stops when you get it into first right?
