If the engine turns over, what makes you think the starter is bad ? Does the flywheel also turn ?

Engine turns over with a ratchet. Starter never engages

Check for battery power at the small wire connecting to the starter when you turn the key to start. If you got battery power then the starter is bad. If it's a Denso model, normally these only need a new set of starter contacts installed and be good to go. Or you can take your chances with a junkyard model.

You can get starter contacts either at amazon or from "larry b's starter contacts" for like $20 shipped. Very easy to install.

Normally though when the starter contacts wear the car will sometimes not start when the car is warmed up, but it will start, if yours doesn't start at all, it's likely it's not just the starter contacts. I would get a junkyard model and some starter contacts as well.

Yeah.... I know this sounds dumb because its obvious but one day I couldnt get my honda to turn over... And it was the starter not engaging. Look all around the area of the starter and make sure all plugs and connections are plugged in, especially a small little single plug that connects to the starter, that was my problem. Seriously, sometimes the problem occurs where you least expect it. GL

Sounds like your starter is not engaging.
