Very loud Screeching noise linked to clutch pedal
I drive a 2004 civic si with 170k miles. This noise goes away when I put the slightest pressure on my clutch pedal and when the clutch pedal is pushed at any length but comes back when you take your foot off. It normally goes away with some driving and when you are cruising but this is the worst I've heard it before. I know my clutch is almost gone and needs to be replaced but I do not know what could be making this noise. The only thing I can think of is a throwout bearing but I can not find anyone with similar engine noises. It only happens very randomly (4 times in 2 months) I will post a link to a video I uploaded on YouTube so you can hear the noise, any help is greatly appreciated!
Well if you need a new clutch anyways, then I wouldn't worry about it. You'll find out soon enough when the tranny is out.
It almost sounds like something with the pressure plate fingers, if it goes away when you enact the clutch pedal, but that wouldn't explain why it comes and goes.
Random issues are the hardest to track down.
