Default S300 V2 vs S300 V3

I am torn in between the two upgrades simply because after making up my mind on the V3 I found that some of the newer stuff it comes with I dont seem to need and also because I found a radical deal on the V2. Anyways, any input that you guys might have is much appreciated. The motor is a stock B16a with an intake and plans for full exhaust, Intake Mani, and upgrades fueling system. Thanks.

If you don't need flex fuel, bluetooth or aren't planning on using an Aim dash. Go with the v2 even the v1 if you can find it cheaper.

Can you explain what each of these features do?

Flex fuel allows you to use a a sensor that measures ethenol content. You get a tune on regular gas and a tune on e85 and it will mix both maps repenting on ethanol. No need to be changing maps and draining the tank.

Bluetooth means you don't need gauges to monitor the engine. You can do it with a android phone or apple phone/table.

Aim is a digital dash/gauge system to replace your OEM gauges.

Do not buy a used v1 unit.

You should shop for a brand new unit from a hondata authorized dealer so you get a warranty, customer service etc.

I think I can pass on the Flex Fuel.

Bluetooth sounds cool but cant I just hook the ECU to my laptop and essentially do the same thing?

AIM sounds like seeing your actual gauges in a video game. I think I can pass on this as well. I just want to able to get my stock motor running on a decent basemap and later down the road after a few mods here and there get it dyno'd.

Thanks for the info.

Besides getting a new one with warranty and customer service, is there anything wrong with the v1's?

Too many V1 counterfeits out there. Not worth the risk, but if you like gambling - full steam ahead!

A lot of possible counterfeit s300v1 units in existence + the s300 version 1 units (green boards) have an on board battery which eventually dies over several years.
Once the battery dies the unit won't hold a tune. The unit will need to be upgraded to a newer unit as the units are out of the 1 year warranty period.

Spend the money once or spend more money & have a headache... Simple

It happens over time. Some sooner then others.
