Default Compression Loss After HG Replacement

2001 Honda Civic - LX - Standard Transmission - 302,000 miles. I replaced the head gasket at 300,000. After reassembly, engine idled roughly and started throwing a P0300 - P0303. Did a compression test and cylinder 3 was low at about 30 PSI. Wet compression test jacked it to about 50 psi. All other cylinders were within range (ruled out bad HG). During HG replacement, I sent the head out to be machined and they removed and then reassembled cam assembly. Underway I don't detect any issues with performance other than the CEL goes on after a while after a reset. I checked and adjusted valve lash and issue did not go away.

Does it seem like a ring issue to you guys?

Is it even worth fixing given this car's age/mileage (and a little rust)?

What would it be worth selling it for?

Thanks
Brian

Default Re: Compression Loss After HG Replacement

Rings. Either needs a rebuild, or replace the engine.

Assuming you can do the work yourself, you could probably put a JDM long block in it for around ~$1000
No one in their right mind will pay much for the car as it sits.
