Default Suggested Fluids

I have a 2000 Civic SI and I live in the FL heat. What suggested radiator fluid with a 1.8 block and 1.6 head DOC port and polished. The rest is pretty much stock.

OEM. You're overthinking this.

If you are concerned you just increase the ratio. Instead of 50/50 you do 60% coolant to 40% water. Just be sure to stick to Honda or "Asian Vehicle" coolant when you go looking for the concentrated stuff.

Something like this:
MotoMaster Asian Concentrate Coolant, 3.78 L | Canadian Tire

There's no real reason to be concerned. Water Wetter is also an option, though, if you really are.

Oh yay, another member that wants to ask questions, then completely ignore what he's told. Why did you even bother asking?

Water is corrosive. Coolant helps prevent corrosion. I'll say it again, since it didn't sink in the first time. You are overthinking this. Just get OEM fluid and call it a day.

There ya go.

Put the front end on jack stands, or park on an incline. Turn the temp slider all the way to hot (you don't have to turn the fan on). Take off the radiator cap. Start the car. Let it run for 2-3 radiator fan on/off cycles. It should take about 15-20 minutes. Keep it topped off while you're doing this. It's that simple. As for your temperature gauge, make sure the single plug on the head, directly under the distributor, is plugged in.

In addition to the corrosive aspect NAR mentioned, coolant also raises the boiling point of the fluid so it doesn't boil as fast as water. As well as it's a lubricant for the water pump.

Running straight water is worse than you are aware, it isn't just about freezing.

If you've replaced the sensor, and the sensor is plugged in, assuming you're looking at the right one (it's literally the ONLY single wire sensor in that location), either there's something wrong with that single wire going to the cluster, or there's something wrong with the cluster itself. Given your gas gauge doesn't work, either, I'm leaning towards cluster, but you'd have to test the wire to properly rule it out.

I think you might want to go to helminc.com and purchase an Electrical Troubleshooting Manual (ETM) if you have plans on keeping the car. They aren't very expensive and are a god send for the electrical systems.

It will allow you to undo and isolate fubar wiring of previous owners.
