Default Help! d16y8 head on a Civic CX

Hey, so in the midst of replacing the head gasket on my d15b8 8 valve engine I ran across a cheap whole d16y8 (with a broken open oil pan) and transmission. I was planning on just doing a mini me swap for my car does have 4 valve pistons. According the wikipedia, my engine hits fuel cutoff at 5800 RPM. Wikipedia also says that the d16y8 hits vtec at 5600 RPM. So, how would this work? Will I really only have 200 rpm of vtec? Is it even worth it? Would I just be better off swapping in the whole new engine?

It's controlled by the ECU. If you don't change ECUs you'll retain the original redline and it'll probably run like crap, not to mention have a non functional VTEC system (which completely defeats the purpose of swapping the head in the first place).

If you have the whole thing swap it. You'll appreciate the extra .1L displacement bump and added torque.
