Default Piston ring orientation

Needs help getting my rings on right.
I have a 96 Accord with a F22B1 engine

I guess he means where to position the gap. Which side goes up or down is not optional.

the rings should be marked to know which direction to place them as far as up and down, aftermarket will tell you usually, factory you just follow the manual. for gap orientation just follow the manual.

Theres no identification on which way is the front ofthe engine or whether the intake or exhaust side for this particular ring orientation

I am guessing that the thrust surface in the top.

I believe theres an arrow point to the thrust surfaces.

The thrust surfaces are on the intake and exhaust sides of the piston/cylinder walls.... AKA load sides. They are 90° from the wrist pin sides. As indicated by the arrows in the image above. Make sure your ring gaps are in between those areas.....lol
