Default Round 2 on my Piston/Rod GSR

Hi all, long time lurker first time poster. Decided to share my build here since everything is almost back together. Will be updating as new dyno numbers are in. The story behind it..

It all started when I became bored of my current car and had an itch to go back to my roots and build a fun daily on a budget. I bought a 1 owner dc2 ls integra off craigslist, came across a few great deals, and here she sits. Goals this season are 400whp on pump. Motor is a jdm b18c1 w/ JE 9:1 pistons, Scat rods, ARP head and main studs, stock gsr head and cams . I bought the motor used with roughly 30k on it. It was built professionally with receipts, ran well and didn't miss a beat last season. Turbo setup is circa 2009 and was also bought used for another great deal. It consists of a Inlinepro a/c compatible mani, Bullseye/Borg Warner T04E 57 trim w/ .55 a/r exhaust, tial 38, open dump, 3in dp to full catless 3" exhaust, 750cc injectors, walbro, blox IM. It ran well but only made 340whp on 20psi (very low number for that psi) tuned on neptune.

Tested compression and saw 120psi across the board (low for that CR).I pulled the motor over the winter for a hone and ring job. While removing the turbo, noticed oil in the compressor fins and in/out shaft play. Decided to send that out to be rebuilt. Also replaced my xtd clutch with a Comp stg and installed an mfactory lsd to the mint stock LS trans. Here is the setup as it sits in the car. Also adding a recirculating catch can setup to get rid of the fumes i had from venting to atmosphere. Those are the lines you see going above the radiator. Really hope the rings or turbo was the problem last season and will be back to the dyno in the next month or so to hopefully achieve my 400whp goal and bust out some 120+mph traps

Nice man

Love these just get er done builds.

Protip: get rid of that ls trans and use a gsr trans. Best bang for the buck.

Unless you plan on making 700whp tomorrow no other excuse to keep it.

Thanks for tuning in. I'm aware a gsr trans is ideal, especially for the 1320, but the car sees a LOT of street duty and I really like the mpgs I see on the highway with the ls 5th gear

gearing is not the only factor in curusing mpg.
difference between tuners goes a looong way.

2,300lbs civic
bone stock b18c1 turbo - gsr tranny
9gallon mixed city/hwy
driving like a granny coating not boosting

315whp e85 I average 18mpg
400whp e85 I average 23mph

both tuned by experianced tuner on same dyno.

shorter gears
better to have it an not need it than need it and not have it.
look else where to save on mpg

good luck on the build !

Thanks guys,

And i'm really only going with the ls trans because thats what was in the car and I knew it was in mint condition. Rather than buying an oem lsd trans, I spent less and added an lsd to this one. I'd rather not be shifting every 2 seconds on a shorter gear'd trans anyway, although I know it'd make a noticeable difference on the track.

idk i never made that much power lol

Ive been at 400whp with the gsr and the ls trans. The gsr is better all around. Since he said he was aiming for 120 mph traps i assumed he would be in that power range depending on weight.

Oh ok only thing I hated about my gsr trans is that I had to shift into fifth . I was at 280hp on 23 inch slicks which is the size tires I should be on I think
