2000 Civic Si Overheat While Idling
As the title says I have a 2000 Civic Si that started overheating this morning while I was idling. I checked coolant and everything looks good. Was losing coolant a couple weeks ago and replaced the radiator cap(Solved the issue.) Any ideas would be helpful.
Verify that the radiator fan is operating properly. While sitting at idle that's the only thing really that will prevent it from overheating. You can start by jumping the fan switch to verify the fan and the circuit itself is functional. If that checks out ok, start the car and let it idle. Watch to see that the fan kicks on by itself when the engine starts to overheat.
I went to bleed the system again and now none of my heat controls work so I can't get the fans to kick on by running the heat. I checked the fuses and everything looks good.
Dude, he's talking about the fan on the radiator. It has nothing to do with the interior climate control. When idling in relatively warm exterior temps, the fan mounted to the radiator should kick on before the engine overheats. If it does not, then you start looking into why. Maybe it's as simple as the fan not being plugged in. Or more complex like a faulty coolant temperature switch.
Also, for bleeding, you don't actually have to turn your interior fan on - you just have to move the temp control all the way to hot, to open the heater core.
I believe you need to raise the front of the car or park on an incline (only ever seen this with hondas)
You got air in the system when you added coolant/changed the cap- just need to "burp" that out and it'll fix your issue.

Sorry for the confusion guys. I was trying to solve two issues with one post. lol ended up solving the overheat while. Ended up being the Thermoswitch. But back to the other question. Any ideas on why my heat stays on at a low setting?
Do you mean the interior fan control stays on at a constant low setting regardless of what you set it at? OR do you mean you have a low amount of heat coming through regardless of where the heat adjustment is set?
