93 del sol - Engine Mounts loose...
93 del sol, D16Z6 automatic.
I did a rebuild on the engine 1600 miles ago (engine is running well!) but lately i'd been noticing some chirping. I thought it was a belt slightly misaligned but after trying to chase it down I noticed it went away when I raised the hood so oh the hood was just misaligned. I had my gf help me and she noticed the engine tilted slightly when I shifted from Drive to Park causing it to vibrate the hood. holy crap?! so I checked the engine mounts and the left and right upper mounts, the engine to mount bolts were good but the mount to body bolts had worked themselves back out some, more on the transmission side. I reread the engine mount install directions to make sure I wasn't supposed to use anything on the bolts to help secure them, and it just says to take some weight off the mounts by slight raising the engine and tighten into the welded on nuts so I did that again. Is there something that would cause this to happen I may have missed to watch for?

I did but I noticed I actually cannot find torque specs to the mount to body bolt in the service manual PDF in the engine removal section or in the Haynes manual, I have 40 written down on my notes but it was long enough ago I'm not sure what the source was on that.
that's the page i'm looking at, it doesn't have the through bolt torque unless i'm misreading it?
upper left and middle right of the top picture are the ones I found loose

How are the rubber inserts?
Are they cracked or stretched?
Did you replace the mounts when you did the engine rebuild? If they are original to the car, it wouldn't hurt to replace them.

alright, not the greatest as my phone starts to slide as the video goes
as to the question about how the mounts are, I didn't see anything especially wrong when i was putting it back in, but I also wasn't thinking about that as they weren't a problem (that I knew of) before.

so this "stopper" seems to be bad now, the others had nothing much.

Lol that stopper is only the Lower Torque Mount.
Replace them both with OEMs, sometimes aftermarkets don't fit right.
Or get the Energy Suspension Inserts and those should make them work again, tho, it will be a lil more vibration from the engine to the body you will notice.

hehe, sorry, I used stopper because that's what is on the hondaautomotiveparts listing that I was looking at and you linked but I wasn't sure that was actually it's general name. getting the two replacements thanks for pointing me down the right track.
Haha no worries I don't actually order from there, the shipping charge kills it, my local dealership usually has the same prices, wish I would looked at these while I had the engine out though ugh.
ugh, so I replaced the 2 side transmission stopper/mounts and it still is tilting up from the front (so rotating clockwise) when shifting. does that give any indication on which other mount I should investigate farther? I have a bad feeling the answer is going to be the rear mount which doesn't look like it's going to be any fun to get to with the engine in the car.
