I never fixed a window. The window wouldn't not move. I took off door skin and noticed it was off the track. I loosened the 10mm bolt and secured window in track and lubricated track. Works great however, the window is out of alignment by a couple millimeters and doesn't tuck under weatherstripping. It's close but it's not how it should be.


Any suggestions?

It's a 98 dx hatch.

It seats in tight on the back section but not on the top towards the mirror side.


My brother in law is thinking i need a new window regulator, the big "X" shaped mechanism but I'm going to have to look at it when I get off work tonight.

 

Is any of the rubber window guides missing from the tracks in the door?

If not, the glass is mounted on two plastic tabs that have bolts in them. Loosen the bolts slighty (do not pull up on glass) and move your window up or down with switch until the glass seats correctly. Once it does retighten the bolts.

 

I had serious window issues on my 00 Civic Lx. The tracks would always dry out no amount of lub would last more than a couple of days. I ended up applying electrical grease and lub to the tracks and that finally made it slick enough to slide the windows with out binding and falling out of track.

 

If you loook closely I cannot get it to tuck under weather stripping at full crank unless I pull the window up with my hands.

My brother in law is saying that it may need a new regulator because this one is old. He tried adjusting all the bolts....

Any final thoughts? It's like i just need the front to go up a tiny bit more just a tiny bit, and it would be money. Is it likely that I need a new regulator? Am I being paranoid that water will leak in? On the opposite side the window tucks in nice and clean under the weatherstripping.

 

The regulator typically goes bad at the center rivet joint. If there's excessive play there, replace it.

 

How can you tell if there is excessive slop in it?

 

Pull it out of the door and check for play at the joint. If you're not sure, post a video.

 

Im being told that it's for certain the window regulator, my brother in law said he felt the rivet spinning.

He says it's not that bad but I'm an **** gotta have it the right way type of guy, and it's annoying LOL.


I will call the dealership and get an OEM one ordered.

I also ordered the Skunk2 Short throw shifter, Skunk2 **** and energy bushings. That should keep me busy for a little, till I have money for a fresh paint job.

Then the real party starts.

 

Ron it was the window regulator.

It works great now.

I also fixed the hood release the one that was in the car was broke so that's all done too.


The rear tires were shot, so I am getting two new ones installed along with an alignment.
