D16y7 block with d16z6 vs d16y8 head?
I have a d16y7 shortblock that has been reubuilt and looking to build a mini me with either a d16z6 or d16y8 head. The motor will be going into a EG. I plan to keep the engine obd1 with a p28 ecu. I plan to use the car for daily driving and will keep the car stock and looking for efficiency. Which head can achieve mechanical and ignition timing closest to stock. Would the engine need to be tuned with choosing either option. I have a stock d15b8 distributor in the event I go with the d16y8 option. Which crank pulley should be used with either head?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
I'd stick with the Z6 head just for simplicity sake. Either head will be easy to time. There's no real need to tune either one unless you add some major power adders. You can use either pulley just know that the timing marks represent different degrees of timing. For ease I'd just match the pulley for the head you are using.
