Default 97 ek won't warm up

Hey guys so I recently got my 97 ek. Has a swapped d16y8. I recently drove 5 hours and it was driving fine until a few days ago. My temperature needle will not even hit the "C". I'm assuming it's the thermostat even though after 10 minutes of leaving it on it still didn't move. The needle worked a few days ago. It has an SI cluster. I don't know what else it could be? Any thoughts, suggestions?

Replace the thermostat and go from there. Also ground the sending unit wire; turn key to ON(II), and check whether the needle rises.

Thanks. Will do this Weekend as I began snowing last night. Ps I have my fan direct, so I can manually turn it on. However I do hear it turn on when I start the car. I'll get back to you this weekend

Classic. Thermostat.

Pretty easy job. Cheap parts. Totally worth it.

I did mine last year, should have done it sooner. Makes a world of difference.

if it never moves at all, try another temp sensor that goes in the block, but it might even be your gauge.

I'm thinking its the sensor as well but we'll see how this goes, one thing at a time.

Okay guys sorry for the late response. So once I insert the key the gauge did not even move. However, yesterday it was really nice out. ~65 degrees. The temp gauge was working fantastic. I'm just going to replace the thermostat anyway and go from there. That's what I'm thinking it is. Thanks for the input!
