Oil light coming on
Alright, I already looked this up and people had similar problems but not the one I'm having. Ok so as I'm driving, the oil light starts flashing. I go to a stop at the stop light and it just stays lit. When I start moving again it starts to flash. I checked my oil level and it is good. When I get it back home, I check for any leaks under the hood and under the car and I don't see any. I decided to start the car again and wait for the light to come on. It's just sitting in idle on my driveway and when it finally reaches operating temperature, the light dimly comes on and then stays on. I'm guessing if it was a faulty oil pressure sender, it would already come on even before reaching operating temp? On my drive back home when it first came on, the engine temperature was normal and wasn't getting hotter so there were no signs of overheating and such. Also, when I first start the car, there are like 4 clicking sounds as the engine starts up. It goes away after a second and then the engine sounds normal and healthy. Could it be strictly the oil pump? Or are there other things that I should check? I should check the oil pressure but I don't have a gauge as of right now. Any help is appreciated
Get a pressure guage, they're cheap. You want to verify that you have adequate oil pressure. If you don't, STOP driving it immediately.
I would also check the connector on the pressure sending unit. I had a similar problem years ago and it was caused by a faulty connection at the sending unit.
