Default No Start - Stalls during idle

So I was just about to buy a 2005 Civic Coupe (LX) with 110,000km's on it. For all intensive purposes it seemed like a really good deal at $4,800 with pretty new summer and winter tires. The car itself looks good.

I test drove it about 40km last week and took it through residential and down the highway. No problems then. However, we were about to buy it when it started shaking at a red light and suddenly died as we came to a stop. After that the car wouldn't start again (it started just fine 10 minutes before). Eventually we found giving gas would keep the engine running and we drove pretty slowly back to the sellers place. I noticed the engine light had turned on and there was an odd smell like burning or fumes.

I didn't buy this car and the seller is going to take it to be checked out at their local garage. Thing is they apparently already took it in for this problem and had the EGR valve replaced. Not sure whether or not I'm going to buy this car if it comes back clean, but I definitely need an opinion on the issue and if I should buy it.

It's 'intents' and purposes..... NOT intensive purposes, Mr. Doug Heffernan.

As far as the car goes, you eff'd it up while test driving it and screwed the owner over, hahahaha. I would have made you pay up for that.

Either you're a troll or just plain stupid. When the car stalled the owner was with me and stated it happened before and advised us to drive it back for her in that manner.
