Default Guys I need help :(

I have a 2006 Honda Civic DX, I bought it like a month ago, and I ran the scan as soon as I got it it told me I only needed a coolant sensor, I bought it on Ebay, replaced it and the Check engine light turned off then like 2 1/2 weeks later its on again. Do you think it can be that the sensor is bad or is it something else because the car runs smooth. Do these cars get this sort of problem often? :/

So you bought either some no-name cheap sensor or a used one and it's causing issues?

You probably should start with what code you pulled and how you pulled it. You can also take the vehicle to Advance Auto, Autozone, etc who should scan it for free.

If I had to bet, I'm going to guess you bought a crap sensor. And you ask if the cars get this sort of problem often - it's a ~10 year old car and a sensor that's *maybe* $50 failed? I wouldn't think twice about something that cheap failing after that period of time. Buying no-name crap parts or installing them improperly may cause this problem often. Buying quality parts would last you another ten years assuming there isn't some other underlying issue.

Thanks for the advice. That really helps. I don't know much about cars. :/

And get raped with the prices by them? No thanks. I'd rather keep trying my hands on cheap products and hopefully strike gold than to fork over stupid amounts of money from the dealer. Just because some parts are OEM, doesn't always mean they are the best and others' stinks.

I didn't say that, but since he has put the part in that seems to be the problem I would start there. Considering the first part lasted as long as it did why not spend the money to have piece of mind for a few extra dollars. keep replacing cheap parts at a quarter of the price that keep failing, you end up spending the same amount and more time for the same outcome, stupid if you ask me.
