Default AC Delete belt Size Nightmare

So I ended up deleting the air conditioning out of 98 prelude. I ended up going to Autozone 4 times due to wrong sizes and wrong rib count. On the first belt I tried was for a 92 prelude S model without AC, which was the 37" 5 rib did not fit it was to large of a belt, same with the 37" 6 rib. And then I tried a 36" belt which was way too tight I couldn't get it on, so now I am getting a 36.5" belt and hoping it works this has been an ordeal for one freaking belt. I feel like I am the only one who struggled with this ac delete. Most of the posts said try a 36 inch belt and it worked for them or the 92 prelude without AC belt worked for them.

Using a tape measure or a bit of string that you can measure would have saved you a headache I think. Or you could have bought a few different lengths and see what fits and return the rest.

Or get one of these:
5pk930 (5 rib 930mm long)
6pk930 (6 rib 930mm long)

It shouldn't be too hard.

I'm sure you can get away with a 4-rib but H22s drive AC and alternators with a 6 rib belt. NonVtec H23s run a 5 rib and all the power steering stuff runs a dedicated 4 rib. Not too sure about F22As since I never cared. Either way the VTEC and nonVTEC pulleys are different diameters (both alternator and crank) so the lengths will be slightly different between the two.

Assuming the OP's 1998 prelude's accessories are unmolested they should be 6 rib pulleys though he could probably get away with using a belt with fewer ribs.

Yeah guys thanks for the input I figured it out, it ended up being a 36.5" belt made by Gates that fit my needs perfectly. The part number is K060365, or alternate part number is 6PK929.
