Yes, you will need a shorter belt.

I'm not shure but is a 36.5in belt. The belt catalog in Auto Parts tells the part no. w/o a/c.

i recently removed a/c and i just went up to autozone and they had a belt in stock because a/c was an option so they make belts with no a/c

Are you sure about that? I have a prelude S and mine had it. In addition I've never heard of anyone not having it in a lude. I might be wrong though... I do agree with needing a new belt though, mine is from an accord of some sort, and is one rib too short.

does anyone know what type of belt this is? I notice a crack, which is normal, but I want to be ready to switch it when needed. Thanks guys..

a/c was an option with some preludes, but to avoid any question of length just measure around the alternator pulley and the crank pulleywith a string or something. there are belts available in almost any size at most part stores.
