Default Surfboard on roof?

Looking into possibly buying an ap2 in my area, but as petty as it sounds, my main concern is being able to carry my surfboard with it. I currently have a Fit and obviously both boards fit in it fine (never had to strap them to the roof). I have a set of soft roof racks that I've never used and was wondering if something like that is safe to use on the roof. I've never owned any type of convertible so I don't have any idea if this is something that is going to hurt it or not. I only live about 10 miles from the beach and wouldn't be going over 35mph to get there. Anyone else surf and own an s2000?

Yep I just put the roof down and stick it in the passenger side. Able to do it with a 9' board.

Another option would be to install a trailer hitch on the S2000 and they get a hitch mounted surfboard rack. Don't laugh, it's actually somewhat common. Most common uses I have seen are bike racks and tire carrier trailers for track days.
