Default JDM ECU question

I'm ready to change out my JDM ECU from my 96' ITR B18C swap for one that will work with US 93 octane gas. Would a USDM P73 be the best move (since I'm not looking for tuning options right now just plug and go) or should I opt for a P28? The engine has been rebuilt but is running too rich and starting to burn oil because of it. Thanks in advance for any wisdom!

Either of the ECUs should work with the 93 fuel. I think the burning oil is due to engine not yet completely broken-in, improper broken in or wasn't properly built.

Yeah there shouldn't be much blueish smoke if any in a newly rebuilt engine. When i first got on it, there was a puff of blackish smoke. Ever since then it's crystal clear when i get on it. What break-in procedure did you follow? Who rebuilt the engine for you? Have you done a leak down test? Or just a simple compression test?
