ECU Question! not sure where to post this question?
i have a 93 sol with a 96 jdm itr b18c swap. im running the stock jdm p72 ecu with an ecu jumper in order to use the existing wiring of the car. the ecu jumper cable is crammed underneath the carpet and because of the jumper i cant use the original ecu hold down plate thing. the ecu is only being held in with a couple screws. it kinda looks like crap. so heres my question: is there any way i can use my original p28 ecu (to eliminate the jumper cable) with this engine without having to get the car tuned. i just want the original ecu specs from the p72 on the p28. i dont want to get into tuning the ecu basically cuz i know absolutely nothin about tuning. all i want is the stock ecu settings from the p72 on the p28. can this be done?

You have to get the ECU chipped to those specs which is 1/2 way like a tune, you just don't need to hop on the dyno to "figure out" what your specs would be. You should be able to go to any reputable tuner with your ECU and have the program chipped w/o your car ever even leaving the driveway

p28 is the easiet and best ECU to chip and run in ur car, once chipped ur set to go plus p72 ECUs make ur car run lean...i'm using a stock p28 on 94 gsr and it runs perfect

Right... Would you care to explain to me how using a GS-R ECU with a GS-R engine makes your engine run lean?!

Ok. Let me get this straight, you think using a stock P72 (GS-R ECU) on a GS-R makes your car run lean. and yet you think a stock P28 (D16Z6 ECU) will run the same engine fine?!?!

First of all how has nobody pointed this out?

Why run an ITR engine on a P72 GS-R program?
The VTEC engages too low, and the air/fuel/timing maps are also wrong.
You need to have a P28 rechipped to run ITR specs if you in fact have a Type R engine.
I used a Kenji chip on my ITR motor swap for years and it dynoed well (175whp/128ft-lbs. torque with i/e) and ran/idled perfectly.

A Type R runs off of a P73 ECU, not a P72.
So either:
A. You've actually got a JDM GS-R/SiR-G swap and the P72 is the right ECU
B. You've got a Type R swap with the incorrect ECU
Which is it?

Besides the pretty red valvecover check for these two items to make sure you've got an actual Type R swap and not a JDM GS-R/SiR-G swap:
Some shady ***** have been known to market/sell the 180ps version GS-R/SiR-G as a "Type R" only to find they got hoodwinked.

dude u know ur ****. props to you. i am running a p73 ecu lol. u just made me look like a fool. and yeah i do have an itr engine i knew how to identify it by the pr3 stamped on the head, as well as the valve cover, intake, and injector angle.

Awesome.
I happen to have an ITR swap myself, so I took those pics to help other ID Type R engines.
I have now run my B18C5 USDM ITR swap on a rechipped P28 for about 8 years now with literally zero issues whatsoever.
A properly chipped P28 ECU will make more power and can be tuned in the partial throttle regions to get great gas mileage too.
I briefly ran a jumper harness with a JDM P73 back in 2001 and IMO it never ran as well as it has with a chipped P28.

Re: ECU Question! not sure where to post this question? (B18C5-EH2)
im running the jdm version. but ne ways i talked to a tuner shop in nyc and he told me in order to run the original p73 specs on the p28 i would need a to use hondata and he said for $200 he would install the hondata and reprogram it. theres no tuners around where i love so in order to get it tuned i would need to drive a couple hours to the shop and save $500 in order to get it fully tuned. does this sound like a good deal? plus off topic but how hard do u beat on ur engine? and how many miles r on it? i got about 55k on mine and i beat on it pretty hard.

Re: ECU Question! not sure where to post this question? (B18C5-EH2)
o and maybe u can help me out with this question. looking at ur avatar i noticed you have a cold air intake that goes into the bumber. i want to get one of these intakes for my car but there is no intake like that available for the itr engine since integras dont have a hole there for it to go through. now i was going to get a similar intake to yours but for a del sol but will the intake piping be large enough? the itr has a 62mm throttle body which is larger than the intake piping for a stock del sol, so i dont want to clamp a pipe to the throttle body which is actually smaller than the throttle body itself because i think it would limit air flow. what do you think?

youre best bet is to have a obd1 ecu chiped and sell the jumper, where do u live at if you near cincinnati. i work at a shop where we chip and tune we just got a dyno if that is something you would wnat to do.. and we do all that in house
