Car keeps overheating....

So my car keeps overheating while sitting at idle, after a long ride. It is fine when on the road, but once you sit and idle the temp will shoot up, and the coolant will bubble into the overflow. I'm noticing nthat the fan is NOT coming on. If it is the fan switch, what/where is this? Whare to get new one? Thank you for any help.
