Default B18c1 oil light

Before ya start bashing yes I've searched. I have a rebuilt b18c1 with 7k aprx on the motor (Built by shop). So recently the oil light blinks when my idle drops below 1000rpm. Compression 180 across and oil pressure guage says 9psi and 40psi. Local mechanic told me it's normal? So my question is what could be the possibility of this light? YES I HAVE OIL

Not normal at all... neither is 180 compression on a healthy vtec b-series, 200 or up is the norm 180 is d-series territory. The normal idle range is 750-800 or a bit higher with a large tb, either way are you saying it goes below the norm of 750 range and then the light comes on. Pretty sad "shop" if they rebuild an engine and it only pushes 180 at 7k miles my itr pushed over 240 with 40k miles, and gsr 220 at 110k miles

oil light is from an oil pressure switch, nothing to do with compression...

so hook up an oil pressure switch on a long hose so you can see the light.

what pressure does it show when the light turns on?

It's the fact a so called shop rebuilt his engine and it has **** compression along with oiling issues. Unless op has been beating the **** out of it when cold and bouncing off the rev limiter, it's a pretty sad job. all he said was "rebuilt" no mention of what was changed an what parts were used which is an important fact.

The numbers really don't mean the engine is bad in anyway because other factors can cause a lower reading on a comp test such as a hot or cold test or wot throttle ect.. Its the consistency of each cylinders pressure that will determine that. Your oil pump may not be working properly.

So the mechanic is stumped. He says it seems like a clearance issue but some how the car doesn't knock nor hesitate. It runs as cherry as any other healthy gsr.

10W40.

What type of oil pump did he use.

If the answer isn't "Honda/Acura genuine", then your problem probably lies there.
