Default Hondata and B18C1 GSR. Help.

So I'm FINALLY coming really close to finishing my turbo setup in my EK. Below is my setup

1. 1997 Civic DX Hatchback Chassis
2. B18C1 JDM GSR Engine
3. Greddy Turbo w/custom piping
5. 550cc Bosch Injectors
6. Hondata S300 v3 installed in OBD1 P72 ECU
7. OBD2A to OBD1 conversion harness

Questions
1. For the IAB to work correctly. What must I do? I know that the P72 outputs a ground signal to A11 when IAB is enabled. There's a feature to "invert" the IAB's. What will this actually do? Does it switch the A11 output to 12v instead of ground?

2. Injectors. What settings should I input into SManager so the car can idle smoothly and I can safely drive the car a few miles to get a tune? Is it as simple as entering the OEM injector size and new injector size?

3. Any other tips?

1.) The IAB solenoid is energized or ON during the low rpm and off at high rpm. This is opposite how most people assume it works. The invert would simply reverse the condition of the pin so it would be off at low rpm and on during high rpm.

2.) All good injectors come with dead times or a battery offset table that you must input into your tuning software. And yes as long as AFR is tuned near stoich regardless of dead times you can safely drive it under low load to a tuner.

3.) Take it to a tuner.

Just to add to what Muckman said - Most reputable tuners will provide you a basemap when you give them your deposit.

When you get real bored call around. Truth be told, the last time I did it was 4 or 5 years ago but most of them were popular tuners that are on HT.

I never get "bored" enough to do that. But I also found that my tuners don't deal specifically with Hondas like the ones on these lists do.. They deal with some "chipped"-based OEM ECU setups like Hondata, but the rest is Autronic, Apex'i, AEM EMS, MoTec, Haltech, and other "standalone" systems. That may be why I hadn't heard of this being done at the tuner. It was usually the installation shop (not always the same people) that prepped it for dyno.

But like you said, its been a few years since I've seen people in my local circles really worry about it.

(Plus, have you seen that "tuner directory" lately? Sheez.. time for an update on that bad-boy.)

Looks like i will be able to add a relay to convert the ground signal for the IAB.

i will have to look at paperwork for the injectors. And if they dont list dead time? They are ev14 bosch injectors with adapters/hats to fir Honda motors. Are deadtimes specific to each injectoe set or would bosch supply these numbers for this model injector?

Can someone hold my hands through this so I won't blow stuff up? Thanks

Oh, and regarding the OBD conversion; Would this require me to swap these current injectors for OBD1 since I'm converting ECU from OBD2A?

The injectors just need to be able to be plugged in and should be high impedance if ur not using a resistor box.... The dead times have a setting in hondata which has a good section in the help wizard in hondata

Muckman, the solenoid is not energized below the threshold. It always has +12v to the solenoid, but the ECU completes the ground connection *after it reaches threshold.
vacuum is stored in the tank, and the diaphragm opens the shorter runners once the solenoid applies vacuum to it.
