2000 Civic DX Hatch Alternator
I need to replace the alternator on my civic I just bought and if you look at the Vin you can see that the car was manufactured in Canada. But the emissions sticker under the hood shows its comforts to US EPA.
So which alternator should I be installing a US or a Canada one.
They are different by 5 Amps but want to make sure I get the correct one.
Someone said it should be the Canada one because of the Vin.
Im not sure if the engine has ever been replace or the hood.
Any suggestions ?

Many USDM cars were made in Canada and shipped to the USA. I would run your VIN on the chassis and see if it's CDM or USDM car and then order the alternator based on that.
The variance is likely due to the ELD in USDM cars that I believe is not in CDM cars. I know this to be true on the 5th gen and think it carries over to the 6th gen (96-00).
