Confirm which alternator?

Confirm which alternator?
Looking for 92 Civic DX alternator (Canadian 1.5L 16 Valve D15B7 Hatch)
Currently has a Bosch AL1263X (may not be the correct one)
I can't find this info anywhere.
Some parts sites list different things, depending if it's a US or Canadian site. Even when putting the VIN in. Doesn't make sense. Are the Canadian alternators different?

Re: Confirm which alternator?
It appears to be a green round plug on mine. I can't get down in there to unplug it and count the pins.
But it makes no sense that for a 92 Civic DX there could be more than one variation of alternator. I called the local Napa and they said there's two kinds. I also called a junk yard and got the same response.
I can see a different trim level having a different alternator than my trim level. But that's why I told them my trim level.
I'm just going to call the Honda dealer tomorrow.

Re: Confirm which alternator?
Japanese produced models came with a Denso alternator (this is the good one) US/Canadian produced vehicles used a Mitsubishi alternator (junk) but they're completely interchangeable. However sometimes the Denso units don't come with the pulley and the Mitsubishi unit wont swap over.

Re: Confirm which alternator?
Brand new Denso alternator was over 300 bucks from my Honda Tech friend.
I opted for a 35 dollar junk yard Mitsubishi one in the mean time and kept my old one (also Mitsubishi) being it seemed to be working but wanted to rule it out on a squeal I had.
After researching how much the regulator and the rectifier cost in them buggers, instead of rebuilding one, I'll just buy the new Denso one. It's cheaper. heh

Oh yeah. Getting the ****** to move so I could loosen the belt and replace it (belt squeal) was a pain in the ***. Took a LOT of hammering in a place in the engine bay that isn't hammer-friendly. But I didi it.

Re: Confirm which alternator?
The bolt tends to seize in the aluminum alternator housing, when removing the alternator sometimes they come out in pieces, the shock/vibration from hitting the through bolt shatters the case. See pic below:
The nut is still on, but it's only loosely threaded on so I could hit it and not damage the threads of the through bolt. I never hit the alternator itself to make it come apart like that, the hammer marks you see where the bolt goes through came after. IIRC even the cast iron bracket broke at the end of it.
But that's really not what I was referring to, even if you can get the alternator out in one piece the Mitsubishi units wont normally come apart, the bolts that hold them together either break, or the aluminum case around them breaks. The Denso units on the other hand are very rebuildable.

Re: Confirm which alternator?
Got the alternator out today without any broken bolts or pieces. The hardest part was unplugging it. It does fit through the top.
Couldn't get the power steering to stop leaking when unhooked, so I'll just flush it and get new Honda fluid.
A Napa lifetime warranty alternator will be going in to replace it. Would like the Denso or Mitsubishi but it's a long wait to order online. If this one fails I'll bite the bullet. The Honda stealership wants over $600 for it..

Re: Confirm which alternator?
It's only $50 at the junk yard or classifieds, but I don't want to swap this thing more than necessary. They could last a week. Even if it lasts a year I'd rather have something that lasts 5.
