Rear door lock issues
98 4dr exv6. Idont have remote to unlock doors but while on the inside if itry to unlock all doors only works for both front doors. It sounds like they want to unlock but they don't? Also rear door handle doesn't open door it seems loose easy cheap fixes? Any troubleshooting advice? Tia
I don't think there's really a good way to check. If the door lock rods aren't moving up and down like they're supposed to, then the small motors inside the actuators are going bad. Honda's are notorious for these actuators going bad. The rear ones are easy to replace, but the front ones are more difficult.
Do at you own risk. Be sure of the wires you're testing.
You can test the actuators by applying direct 12 volt power (+) and ground (-) to them. You can use the car's battery with long wires (such as spare speaker wires) or if you have some other 12 volt battery.
If you don't want to remove the door panels to check them, then you can apply power and ground on the wires located at the center pillars.
Open up the driver's door, at the center pillar, if you gently pull the rubber plug for the wire harness off, you'll see a 10-gray harness connector. You can unplug the 10-gray connector and apply direct power and ground to female terminals on the connector for the wires going into the rear door panel. To test whether the rear left actuator unlocks, apply power (+) to the Lt Grn/Red wire (terminal no. 8 of connector) and ground (-) to the Wht/Red wire (terminal no. 9 of connector). Touch them briefly, as you do not want to burn out the motor if it is okay. To test whether the rear left actuator locks, you reverse power and ground to the respective wires.
For the rear right actuator, the test is similar. There will also be a Lt. Grn/Red wire at terminal no. 8, and a Wht/Red wire at terminal no. 9 on the passenger side connector.
Lt Grn/Red is a light green wire with a red stripe running through it. Wht/Red is a white wire with a red stripe running through it.

Yeah actuators are bad so I'll be replacing soon thanks. As far as it not being able to be opened from outside handle can this be something as simple as something coming unlatched or ? When itry to open rear door from the outside it wont open and feels loose as if is not connected? Thanks
