Rear door lock only pops up halfway

Rear door lock only pops up halfway
Hi,
I have a 96 honda civic and the passenger side rear door lock does not work correctly. The symptom is that the door lock doesn't pop all the way up when I use the remote or the switch in the driver's door to auto-unlock all the doors. The door lock just pops partway up, but not enough for the door to be opened from the outside. The door lock has to be pulled up by hand from the inside in order to open the door.
I initially thought this might be related to a bad door actuator, so I got a replacement and installed it. However, when I took the door apart to replace the actuator, I tested the old door lock actuator and it seemed to work fine. In fact, it seemed to work just as well as the new one that I put in. I replaced it anyways, thinking that maybe the new actuator would have a little more power than the old. But after replacing the actuator, the lock behaves the same as before.
Any ideas as to what else this could be? All the other door actuators and locks work just fine. I'm wondering if the problem is more mechanical than electrical because it is actually hard to pull the door lock up using ones fingers (fingers can easily pull up the lock on the three functioning door locks, but the busted one is hard to pull up - my six year old often has trouble doing it and it's a challenge for adults as well).
Could it be the rod is bent? Something needs to be lubricated?
Thanks for any thoughts.

Re: Rear door lock only pops up halfway
Ron - thanks for the reply. I looked at all of the mechanical parts when I had the door taken apart, and nothing seemed obviously broken or messed up (but then again, I don't really know exactly what to look for here). I got it all working before I put it back together with the new actuator, but the locking mechanism wasn't really running that smoothly, and within a week it was back to it's old broken self.
The door had never been taken apart for any repairs prior to me trying to fix it with the new actuator (I'm the original owner). The car has been broken into a few times, but I don't know if that door was used to gain entry.
So before I take the door apart again, I'm wondering if there are any common problems that occur with these mechanical parts that I may have overlooked. For example, if the lock rod is bent, how would I be able to tell that? And how would it ever have gotten bent (maybe someone trying to slim jim the lock)? Should I just compare it to the shape of the rod in the parts diagram that Ron posted? And for the lock crank, any common issues here - do these need lubricant at some point in their lifetime?
Thanks for any additional thoughts.

Re: Rear door lock only pops up halfway
With the door panel off and the lock parts and latch visible and accessible, try manually moving the lock rods between the locked and the unlocked positions to see whether you can determine what specifically is hanging up. Some lubrication is possibly all that is needed.

Re: Rear door lock only pops up halfway
I have a 1997 Homda Accord V6 4 dr and I just replaced the drivers side window motor and actuator. Now when I put it all back together the door lock on the door doesn't work. I can pull the inner rod ( the one that attaches to the door handle ) and pull it forward and the locks work but when I attach it to the door handle it don't work unless I act like I'm opening the door. Pull the handle all the way out (like opening the door) it works. Any suggestions?? Can that inner rod be adjusted?
