I don't think thats an oem mount. Where's your mirror?

 

They took the rear view when they stole the car. And my defroster thing. They took numerous things.. small.. things... the car. .. for SMALL things .. :/

or ... should I just get one off EBay, screw it in to what is there (?) and get another "yard credit" for the mirror I bought?? ..

 

If the base is anything like the OEM base, you use a jewelers flat tip screw driver to slide in and lift the metal catch tang and it slides straight up.

See if there is a square hole on the top and/or bottom that you can slide a tiny flat tip into.

Unfortunately (for me,) this must have happened before with the car, or windshield replaced? Because this is not an OEM mirror or mount or tab.

I am looking on EBay now.. IN the event that buying a mirror to fit that thing is a good idea. Then I would not have to mess with glue. Will also try to clean up around that base, if that is the case.

Seeing if there is one there, and I will just get the $25 credit for the mirror I bought.. and pick up a rim for the other car, so I never have to go back there after this now 3rd visit to that yard. I don't really like it there. They are too non-chalant, and I can do better locally.. They lose.

My mirror predicament continues.

*by the way: I have ATTACHED a Rear View before.. with the glue kit, on the metal to the windshield.. 1 minute of firm pressure working the arms to press HARD. Let sit overnight, THEN attach.. works like a charm. Never had to REMOVE.

Afraid a torch will break the windshield. How much heat can it take? Minding that the metal will get HOT .. and heat weakens things..

Just pop it off like the video, I just did this today in fact and it was pretty easy. I tried before but was always afraid of cracking the glass. But steady pressure upward, plus the screwdriver on the clip and it started moving.

If you end up needed to replace the foot, then use a heat gun on low or a hair dryer then use a razor blade to wedge between the foot and the glass and eventually the glue will give out and you can clean it then put the new foot on.. Do that w/o the mirror of course
