Hello I just did a spark plug and wire change on my 2000 Honda civic ex. Now it is running rough. Any ideas why?

I'll assume the wires are the same. I guess we'll start from the top. CEL on? Did you move the distributor at all when changing out the wires? Check your timing just to be sure. Clean you IACV. All this stuff can be found in the FAQ section, https://honda-tech.com/honda-civic-d...tions-1998336/

welcome to honda-tech.
Your not going to find much help asking questions like these
People make DIY's for things like this---

search "clean IACV"
you look at the pictures and steps--

on a side note---did you make sure you connected the plug wire to the correct location on the dist cap?
Id try pushing them on again and make sure they all seated properly on the plugs.
Did you do anything else? or Just plugs/wires

You probably mixed up the firing order of the plugs... thats the only thing I can think of.

Sorry guys. Been busy. I replaced the pcv valve. (Honda put it in a really inconvenient place for some reason). It was the original one form 15 years ago. Pretty bad. Now the idle is fluxuates at idle. I'm going to take the IAC valve off (finally found it yesterday) today and clean it up to see if that helps.

Yes it did. But I think I had just noticed how tough it really was after I had changed the plugs. They were once again the original ones from 15 years ago. I had just got this Honda and the previous owner had not taken care of it very well.

Yes. After I cleaned the iac valve it runs much better. It was really gunked up. Next I'm gonna clean the throttle body. I was going to do it today. But getting to my iac valve is not fun

It's easier to just remove the entire throttle body, assuming you have an auto trans or D6Y7 engine.

All auto trans have the IACV attached to the TB. It's easier to just remove the TB to clean the IACV, and may as well clean the TB while you're at it. A replacement TB gasket only costs $2.

Anything I should know before I take the TB off. Any hints or tips?

You need a torque wrench to reinstall the nuts and bolts.

Drain the coolant to avoid making a mess.
