LS/Vtec civic bogging down when vtec kicks in at 5k
First of all how's it going everyone? I'm new to the honda game and I need some insight from you professionals, I'll tell you a little bit about my car. I have a 1994 Honda Civic, too many parts to list but I'll give you some details on what it's got! ls bottom end, rods, crank, built b16 si vtec head, fuel pressure regulator, aftermarket unsprung clutch, catback exhaust, b16 si trans, 80k on drivetrain, brand new axles, good tires. B16 head full skunk2 valve train b16 tranny 6 puck unsprung clutch ls block with 12.5:1 compression pistons eagle rods acl main and rod bearings. I did not build this car myself and I'm just starting to clean out the hacks from the previous owner. So anyways the car runs drives shifts everything perfect, until it hits vtec at 5000 rpms, it seems to fall on its face and not go anywhere. I can clearly hear vtec kicking in but the car seems to bog down, definitely not moving any faster from 5k winding up to 7-8. I've been told a lot of things could be wrong from im running the wrong oil, the car is out of time, I have the wrong ecu, the list goes on and on. If anyone has dealt with this problem please let me know, any help is appreciated! Thanks guys
By the way everything is being described, i assume you are running factory ignition on a factory ECU or chipped ECU. You need an aftermarket ECU that will enable you to set up and tune the car to run correctly.
The list that goes on and on about what could be wrong is dead on...the info provided is not at all helpful in determining why your vehicle bogs down at 5K...the info you don't provide is the reason your getting a long list of things that could be wrong.

You told us about your clutch, twice, but didn't mention anything about the ecu or engine management.
Just sayin'

Hey sorry haven't been on this account to read everyone's responses, to get back to you guys, after looking into it we noticed I had the wrong ecu in my car, (I have the ecu for s single cam car plugged in), we swapped it with the correct ecu and it made no difference, car ran just like it normally does. What aftermarket ecu would you guys recommend for my setup, I read up a little bit on the hondata s300? Any opinions?
What single cam ECU is in your car?
Products like the S300 and NepTune RTP are not ecus, they are actually add-ons to a stock ecu. IF you have a typical obd1 Honda ecu (even a single cam one), you can use one of these products to add a ton of capability to it. This is pretty much the de facto method for tuning a 92-00 Civic.

I'm having the same problem with my d16z6 stage 2 comp cam fuel eBay exhaust And skunk 2 intake mani it clouds white smoke but I'm not having any coolant loss and won't go past 4000 rpms just spits and bogs feels like fuel cut or something
It's not throwing codes, or is the MIL just not working/disconnected? When you turn the key to the run position, without starting, does the MIL come on for a few seconds and then shut off?
There's almost no possibility of it being in limp mode without throwing a code.
What car is this motor in?

Kyle, you listed a lot of mods and didn't list what you're tuning with. Your engine is detonating because it's too lean, and you have high compression.
Get it tuned.
Get it tuned.
Drr, you're probably running rich as hell. One of your sensors is failing. By the sound of it, it's either the MAP sensor or one of the temperature sensors. If you keep trying to drive it like that you're going to destroy your block.
